I don't know you, OTWO, but I admire you and respect you for the unconditional love you have shown your sister. It is obvious that you have put her interests above your own many times and unselfishly looked after her needs. It's a shame that her husband seems to have used her situation as a way to provide for himself.

mine is 25 miles each way.
it can take anywhere from a half hour to an hour and a half each way depending on traffic.
there is no way way to get here by public transportation.. sigh~ .
I usually ride as an extra crewmember on a company airplane from NH to TN. I leave the day before to arrive in position about 18 hours before I begin an operating flight. That way I can get plenty of rest, as most of my flights are about 14 hours non-stop.
If the first leg of my trip entails positioning on a passenger flight, then I usually leave out of Boston and fly to wherever my operating flight begins, typically somewhere in Europe or Asia.
The commute to my local airport to catch a company airplane is only about 25 minutes.
The ones I feel sorry for are the people who have to ride commuter trains or buses for an hour or two each way five days a week. Now that's brutal!

WAY back when I was a JW, I dreamed I was on that show and got to the million dollar question. It was a Bible question such as "What is the 8th book of the Bible, as listed in the King James version?" I knew the answer, but used a lifeline to call my father, who had been a congregation servant/elder since the 1950's. In my dream, I did it to honor him for being such a great dad and to acknowledge his part in my Bible education. I still feel that way about him and his life of being sincere, genuine, and consistent about his beliefs. Of course, I now know TTATT, but that doesn't diminish my love for Dad and my respect that he truly lived what he thought was right.
He passed on a few years ago, so if there is a life after death in any congnizant form, he too now knows TTATT. "Here's to you, Dad! I'll see you again, but hopefully not for a long, long time."

Well done, Cedars! That was an excellent video with a very compelling message. I agree with everyone else who thinks the Society shot itself in the foot with its heavy-handed tactics, especially since they did it on false pretenses. No one really believes it had anything to do with copyright issues.
For what it's worth, I hope the Society doesn't call someone in Hollywood with the rights to The Bourne Identity background music and try to get them to have the video pulled on that ground. I love the Bourne series and think the theme was perfect for this video. Good job!
"true story" the circuit overseer came to our kingdom hall and read us the riot act (local needs style) "magazines of this quality are not free, they cost money and we are not generating enough donations to defray the cost of the magazines(or running the top of the line printing presses) i get my ass out of bed to place literature in the laundray cleaning, coin opperated shops and some asshole puts his apostate stickers on our magazines.
do you know how hard it is to get up at 6:00 am and how expensive those magazines are costing the organization to print?
please stop defiling our literature, i dont post hateful stickers on your website so please leave my magazines alone.
At the risk of being "flamed," here's my personal opinion on how to handle JW trash (literature) that is found in public places:
I think it is inappropriate to simply take or dispose of the magazines. In my mind, that is the equivalent of book-burning. Who appointed us the judge of what people should be able to read? How is it we get to decide what the public does or does not have access to? We may think we are "saving" the public from a destructive, mind-controlling cult (and we ARE), but it is not our place to take or destroy things that do not belong to us. Yes, they were left out for the public to have at no charge, but they were not intended to be collected wholesale and disposed of because WE don't like the message.
That said, the magazines themselves (if read by anyone with a modicum of reasoning ability) do a fine job of anti-witnessing on their own. Yes, they are full of self-aggrandizing propaganda, dumbed down "science," and inane religious doctrines that require mental gymnastics just to follow their line of "reasoning." And that's my point: anyone with just a little education or common sense will likely see through them for the pointless drivel they are.
But here's what I DO think would be fair and appropriate: do as others have done and put stickers on them pointing to websites that show just how silly and false WT teachings are. That way we are not interfering with others' rights to read what they wish, and we're not taking things not meant for us for our own purposes. We're just showing the public that there is another point of view while warning them of the dangers of Watchtower Society. I doubt very many would even talk to the Witnesses again if they visited a site like this just once.
Collecting and destroying literature, just like losing our temper and screaming and yelling at JWs, may do us and our "cause" (warning people about the Watchtower) more harm than good. One way to make sure people read something is to try to supress it. If someone picks a JW rag to read and notices an "apostate" sticker and then checks it out, our work is done. Be sure to count your time!
so obviously as a recently parting jw, i've never had the hastle, the annoyance or the joy of experiencing christmas.
this year in our office was the first time that we did a secret santa, so i would joke with a few of the people looking for advice because i had never really celebrated christmas.
it was kind of a fun running joke for the past month or two, as they laughed and pitied over my past with me, which they pried about and i explained.
What a wonderful story! I guess those sex-crazed, demon controlled, evil worldly people aren't so bad after all, huh.
My heartfelt congratulations on escaping the JWs. May you enjoy many more Christmases with your true friends and love ones.
now i just have to sign on the dotted line and drop it off and i shall once again be in the permanent job field.
i won't be earning a huge amount by any means but it is enough to cover my bills and to save a little bit.
this does give me that relief of finances coming in, of course i'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for better opportunities, but that being said i shall embrace this new opportunity with open arms and eagerness.. it's been a hellofa tough year people - hellofa tough.

These materials are invaluable tools in my continuing dialog with friends and family members still trapped in the cult. It is quite useful and satisfying to be able to show them that their consciences are indeed dictated to them by whatever the Society puts out. Sadly, many now refuse to state what they believe about any particular doctrine for fear that "new light" has come out and yesterday's belief is now apostasy. Yet they cannot comprehend that todays's new teaching may well be outdated tomorrow. Still, they will staunchly deny that the Faithless Indiscreet Slave is indeed the master of their faith and dictator of their consciences.
Thanks again for all your hard work. I realize what an effort it is to provide this service to your true brothers and sisters.

We bought a Bob-O-pedic, which is a knock-off of the Tempurpedic. It had really strong fumes that smelled like formaldehyde. Since it was under a warranty, we insisted that the store replace it. They did, and the new one had no odor at all. Both arrived new in the plastic. Go figure...
